New RG Video on YouTube!!!

Rosemary Gates is proud to announce the official release of our newest video from the “Myth & Judgment” album; the opening instrumental track “Around the World in 100 Years.”  Guitarist Michael Archbold explains, “We have been working very hard on the video release for "Myth & Judgment.Although the production of the videos is taking longer than we would like, we believe that the quality of what we put out is far more important than the speed with which we do it.  With us in the middle of recording our third album, putting together an ’09 tour schedule, and finishing this video release, we have had to budget our time very carefully.  Since we are pretty much doing everything in-house now between recording music at King James Studios and producing videos through my digital production company, Arson Digital, time is at a premium.”

Bassist Bryan Bankson describes the video for “Around the World in 100 Years” as a perfect lead off for the concept album that is “Myth & Judgment.”  “Mike and I put together a loose based story line for the ‘Myth & Judgment’ album which sparked the idea for a video release of the songs.   The story centers on a US soldier who has recently returned from service over seas.  It explores the ups and downs that service men and women experience when returning from war.”  Archbold adds, “It’s a subject that a lot of people don’t really know a lot about; that is the deep and profound changes that take place in a person who has experienced the good the bad and the ugly of war.  It often affects a person’s outlook on life and their relationships.  Once we compiled the songs for the album, we really began to see that there was a story being told; from the joy of returning home, to connecting with loved ones, to dealing with the integration back in to society.”

“Around the World in 100 Years” is an instrumental track that opens the album and sets the stage.  Archbold explains, “Around the World is simply an observation of the times in which we live.  The last 100 years has been fraught with war and strife and leads into the present struggle against extremist terrorism in which we find ourselves entrenched today.  The song is less a statement and more an observation.”

Many will observe right away that the song and video are a little darker than most people are used to from Rosemary Gates.  Bankson adds, “The album (Myth & Judgment) overall is darker than our previous releases, but perhaps more powerful.  In reality, the entire album is a roller coaster of feeling and emotion.  “Broken Waves” is a song that is on the up-side and the video reflects that.  “Around the World” is one of those tracks that take the listener the other way.  Vocalist Christian Schult adds, “It is that dichotomy that I love about Rosemary Gates.  We are a band that doesn’t settle on one style or emotion and repeat that twelve times on an album.  We explore so many different styles of music and emotions, both light and dark, that it keeps it interesting for us and hopefully for the listener.”

Album 3 Updates

The band is has been thoroughly entrenched in the album now for most of the last year.  Basic tracking is not quite complete.  Guitarist Michael Archbold explains that the band has been having some technical difficulty in finishing the drum and percussion tracks on schedule.  “John and I have been working at TNT Studios almost weekly for that past six months working out some bugs in the software side of things.  We finally have things dialed in and plan to complete drum tracking in the next two weeks.  From there we will be finishing what is left of instrument tracking and vocals.  That will leave us with mixing and mastering duties.”  Drummer John Tingley adds, “The original plan was to mix and master the album at Sweetwater again like the last album.  But with investment dollars in short supply right now, we have decided that we are going to complete the album in-house this time around.  Vocalist Christian Schult states, “We are very confident in our ability to complete the album in-house this time around and look forward to the challenge.  With two EP’s and two full length albums under our belts, it’s just the right time for us to gain the experience of a completely self-produced album.

Current estimates are for a summer 2009 release.  Check the Web site often for updates.

Tour Schedule ‘09

The band is gearing up for their 2009 tour schedule.  They have already booked two dates at the Grand Wayne Center playing at the Midwest Tattoo Convention on Friday night March 27 and Sunday morning March 29.  The band is in contact with venues inside and out of Fort Wayne.  Check the Web site often for gig updates.  Watch for a show near you.

Web Updates

The band has begun sorely needed updates to its Web site.  Guitarist Michael Archbold states, “We are going with a more streamlined approach.  Most Web sites nowadays are so convoluted and dense with meaningless junk that looking up a simple gig date becomes a chore.  Right now, less is more.”  For the time being, the band has put up a simple and highly navigable site that is very user friendly, but plans some graphical updates here in the near future.
